Always a Stranger is an exhibition about the boarding schools in Northern Norway in the 20th century - about the children who moved away from home to attend school.
Boarding schools were not only a means of education, but also a powerful tool employed to assimilate Sámi and Kven children into Norwegian society. These children not only separated from their parents but also from their language, culture, and traditions.
The exhibition opened at The Arctic University Museum of Norway in June 2023, and is now touring the Northern Norwegian municipalities.
